Gunfire Games has revealed more information about its upcoming title, Chronos, a role-playing game for the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset and PC.
For starters, the studio has tapped Dan Jolley as its lead writer. Jolley will be tasked with creating a rich narrative that follows a hero’s quest to save his homeland from an evil force. His name may be familiar to some, his work ranges from co-writing Techland’s Dying Light to being one of the writers behind Mafia III for 2K Games.
“Chronos’ narrative directly affects gameplay. As the character ages, they become a wiser and more seasoned warrior, learning from past mistakes and from the exploration of the caverns, ruins and tombs,” said David Adams, Gunfire Games CEO. “It also means that players’ strategies will change as their characters grow older.”
Chronos, expected to release in 2016, centers around a labyrinth and a “progressively-aging protagonist” who must fight to free his land from an evil dragon. Players will travel through the labyrinth, the catch being, the portal only opening once a year. If the hero fails to make it through, he’ll have to wait a year for another attempt.
