Capcom has officially announced that Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny is getting a remastered edition, set to launch in 2025 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. Originally released in 2002, Onimusha 2 expanded on its predecessor with branching storylines, new allies, and deeper combat mechanics, making it the best-selling entry in the franchise.
While details on the visual and gameplay enhancements are still under wraps, the remaster promises to modernize the beloved samurai action experience for a new generation of players.
Onimusha Returns with a New Chapter
The Onimusha series is making a grand comeback with Onimusha: Way of the Sword, an all-new samurai action game set in feudal Japan. Revealed by producer Akihito Kadowaki and director Satoru Nihei, the next chapter in Capcom’s legendary franchise will feature a new protagonist wielding the Oni Gauntlet, engaging in brutal swordplay against the demonic Genma.
Set among Kyoto’s historic landmarks, including Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Way of the Sword will emphasize the satisfying precision of sword combat while incorporating the classic soul-absorbing mechanics fans love. The game is slated for release in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
