La Quimera, a Sci-Fi FPS Set in Futuristic Latin America, Launches April 25 on Steam

Developer Reburn is entering the FPS arena with La Quimera, a narrative-driven sci-fi shooter set in a futuristic Latin American mega-city. The studio announced today that the game will officially launch on April 25 for PC via Steam, priced at $29.99. Before then, players can get hands-on early during a 24-hour closed beta on April 12, starting at 7 a.m. PT / 2 p.m. UTC.

If you want in, you can request access now on La Quimera’s Steam page—slots are limited, and the beta covers a pivotal mid-game mission playable solo or in co-op.

Suit Up, Squad Up

La Quimera’s new gameplay trailer gives a deeper look at the game’s gritty tone, showcasing everything from tight corridor firefights to jungle skirmishes filled with robotic enemies, high-tech exosuits, and electrical abilities that zap entire groups of enemies. Whether you’re shocking squads, scanning for cloaked foes, or dodging bullets with a supercharged side-dash, the exosuit toolkit is a big part of what sets the game apart.

And the best part? It’s fully co-op. You and up to two friends can squad up for each mission, coordinating tactics as you move through the corrupted streets and wild outskirts of Nuevo Caracas—a crumbling futuristic metropolis where things are never quite as they seem.

Narrative Meets Neon Noir

La Quimera isn’t just about flashy gadgets and firefights—it’s also a story-driven experience shaped by some unexpected creative minds. The game’s narrative is written by Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive, The Neon Demon) and E.J.A. Warren, blending Latin American mysticism with corporate warfare and a dystopian sci-fi edge. Players take on the role of a down-on-their-luck PMC team, entangled in a conflict between rival factions and corporations, as the city’s strange, mystical undercurrents begin to rise to the surface.

From the Team Behind Metro

Reburn might be a new name, but their team has deep roots. Many of the developers behind La Quimera—including project lead Oleksandr Kostiuk—previously worked on the Metro series, including Metro 2033, Last Light, and Exodus. CEO Dmytro Lymar, a veteran of the Ukrainian games industry, was formerly CEO of 4A Games Ukraine.

Despite the enormous challenges of developing a game in wartime, Reburn has pushed forward to create a world that’s both visually stunning and narratively rich.

“Our work wouldn’t be possible without the bravery and sacrifice of those defending Ukraine,” said Lymar. “We’re truly grateful to everyone who supported and believed in us along the way.”
