AdventureQuest 3D marks the beginning of a new era when it hits Open Beta this October and MonsterVine had a chance to check out a glimpse of what’s to come for new and recurring fans of the series.
Artix Entertainment is hoping the move to 3D will entice an audience across platforms including PC, Android, and iOS mobile devices. The term “cross-platform” takes a whole new meaning given that players can interact with each other across PC and mobile devices. AdventureQuest was originally a conceived as a single player flash game back in 2002. To give you a reference point, I was 12 years old at that time. So it was quite a surprise to learn that the game has boasted over 65+ million users playing the original Flash game over the course of 14 years. Artix is hoping those who have played or recognized the game will come aboard for the open beta which is a more robust, and MMO-take of the previous iteration.
Players will hop into the world of Battleon and with the launch of the Open Beta have the opportunity to check out the ShadowSkull Tower dungeon and Mogloween festivities, all the while re-balancing the game. With the switch to the MMO format, AdventureQuest 3D plays more familiar to World of Warcraft in likeness. Adventurers will be able to pick up quests and complete objectives to further their experience and abilities. The switch to MMO also utilizes modern elements of the genre such as leveling up with friends, daily login rewards, exploration achievements, and PvP arenas. In our time playing on a private server, there were some kinks to work out, for example, the animation but the development team has stated that most of these quality concerns will be alleviated by launch. There are also three classes that can be swapped at any time, however equipment will still be class-specific so have players have the opportunity to specialize in specific roles.
With planned weekly updates and options to use in-game currency, as well as purchase currency through real world money, AdventureQuest 3D is shaping up to be an engaging addition to the Adventure Quest family. For those interested in embarking on new adventure, we have 1,000 Treasure Quest codes to give away and grants access to in-game items during the Open Beta. The codes will unlock an in-game Treasure Chest featuring four exclusive items: Warband Cloak, Warband Axe, Warbrand Staff, and Warband Sword.
