Blog: Girls Gone Gaming Pun Intended

June 30, 2009 by William Saw Blog 1 Comment

The NPD group has released a study demonstrating an increase of female gamers in 2009 in contrast to the previous year.

What is interesting to note from the study is that the female increases were notable among groups that included the “Heavy Portable” as well as “Extreme Gamers.” Female gamers also increased, from 23 percent last year to 28 this year, among console ownership which is mainly attributed to the Wii.

The growing trend of console ownership has resulted in more new gamers in this group in comparison to social network and mobile gaming.

The group of Extreme Gamers play 10 hours more a week and purchase six times the number of games compared to the next highest segment. However, extreme gamers only account for five percent of the total demographic.

Matt Hazard: Blood Bath & Beyond Review

The original Matt Hazard had the potential to be a great game, good voice work with the likes of Neil Patrick Harris and Will Arnett. A brilliant backstory and marketing campaign which broke the fourth wall entirely, and the story while thin was entertaining and amusing. The sole problem came in the gameplay department which [...]

SB Plays The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks

When the newest entry in the beloved Zelda series was announced earlier this year, people were both excited and skeptical. How well would a train in the Zeldaverse go over with fans? Would the gameplay be a replay of Phantom Hourglass, with its infamously numerous trips through the Temple of the Ocean King?
Now that the [...]
