Nintendo is finally going to let 3Ds and Wii U owners talk to eachother. The next update for 3DS lets users link their Nintendo Network ID to the system and brings Wii U wallet sharing and the Miiverse.
Handheld owners will soon be let into the social, drawing filled world Nintendo has created for the Wii U. The update will let players connect the Nintendo Network ID they currently are required to use on the Wii U to enable the use of the Miiverse and the wallet sharing.
Hopefully this brings us closer to Nintendo having a unified account with software purchases linked to it, instead of things being linked to hardware like they currently are. I want to be able to play my digitally purchased games on the various 3DS and 3DS XL systems I own, and not have to worry about losing my library of games if the system is lost or stolen.
