From the recently approved merger of Activision Blizzard made official, the publishing company has revealed that only five titles from Vivendi Sierra’s portfolio will be making the jump to the newly formed publishing division.
These titles include Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Ice Age, Prototype, and another unannounced title.
“The only [Vivendi] franchises that Activision Publishing will release are based on Crash Bandicoot, Ice Age and Spyro, as well as Prototype and one other game that has not yet been announced.”
“We are reviewing our options regarding those titles that we will not be publishing.”
– Activision Blizzard Representative
Remaining titles in Vivendi Sierra’s portfolio include Double Fine’s Brutal Legend, Terminal Reality and Red Fly’s Ghostbusters, A2M’s Wet, Starbreeze Studios’ The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, Massive’s World in Conflict: Soviet Assault, and Swordfish’s 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, and many others.
While alot of the studios stem from independent developement studios, Activision Blizzard is “exploring options” for internal studios Swordfish Studios and Massive Entertainment for possible sale or closure.
The news appears grim for these titles, keep in mind that Activision Blizzard subsidiary companies may take those titles under their publishing jurisdiction.
