Dark Void is shaping up to be a interesting take on the third person shooter genre.
The game sets you in the role of a pilot named Will (yes that is my name), a normal pilot who is sent to a strange alien world and are forced to take on an army of aliens called the Watchers. Dark Void mixes three different types of gameplay – traditional third person combat, “vertical” combat, and arcade-style flight – to form the overall experience. In theory, these elements formulate good gameplay.
Controls are standard and easy to pick up, you can approach the gameplay in very much a run and gun style. The environment can be used to take cover and throw grenades in order to clear out rooms. Utilizing your jet pack to scale high areas adds a new experience to the game. A “shotgun” type energy weapon was also shown resulting in significant damage as you send your enemies back in catapulting fashion.
Dark Void still has a year left in development for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
