Capcom’s 8-bit revival of the downloadable Mega Man 9 could spark new opportunities for other gaming developers if it becomes a commercial success. Castlevania producer, Koji Igarashi, told Game|Life his viewpoint of the situation.

Mega Man 9 is currently in development by ex-Capcom staffers at Inti Creates, is promised to be an 8-bi revival of the series utilizing assets and gameplay conventions of the original Mega Man series.
It is a built from the ground up as a downloadable title and will hit all three console platforms via their respective downloadable network.
While a North American release date has yet to be announced, Capcom has stated that they are aiming for a simultaneous launch on all three platforms barring any delays from each console’s end.
