Covering E3, whether you’re right there watching it live or watching a respected game site’s broadcast of the action (as I will be doing at this time tomorrow), is no easy task. As such, here are a few things you may want to have on hand if you’re taking the second option:
–Food, drinks, and the like: You don’t want to miss the announcement of The Game of the Century or The Next Gen System all because you stepped out to get some munchies.
–Something to write down info on and something to write with: Given that you might miss something if you click over to another tab during the show, it’s a better idea to handwrite your notes first, then type them up when the show ends. Or you can start planning that fanfic you’ve been meaning to write for the past month if you get there early. Myself…I have my lucky electric green notebook and plenty of pens ready to go. (I would advise against writing in pencil, as missing something while you were at the pencil sharpener would not be good)
–Music: If you got there early, have your media player on while you’re waiting. Just don’t forget to turn the music off when the broadcast starts.
–IM program: If you know the IM screennames of others that would be interested in a play-by play of the conference, have an IM program open so you can start reporting the instant the show begins.
As for me, I’m trying to endure the last 24 hours before the Nintendo press conference…stay tuned to hear what goes down tomorrow morning.
Until then, happy gaming!
