Publisher Codemasters today announced the unveiling of FUEL, a new racing coming to PC, Xbox 360, and Playstation 3 in 2009.
Currently developed by Asobo Studios, FUEL is set in an “alternative present day” where the effects of climate change has decimated the Earth’s rescources. Oil is few and expensive, the people have taken to the wastelands to use their “grungy home-tuned vehicles” to win races for fuel.
The title promises “the largest environment ever created in race gaming” and a “no-boundaries playfield” expanding over 5,000 square miles. The player will be able to drive through this gameworld, with two to four-wheel vehicles, that include various environments such as mountain, desert, and forest elements.
Singleplayer and multiplayer modes are expected to ship with the game upon its release.
