Hi, what are you looking for?

Playstation Network

Warhawk, Operation: Fallen Star

First off, V1.5 comes out Wednesday, August 27th and Operation: Fallen Star will be available for $7.99 on August 28th!

Second off, the video’s great and Icarus Mk. 1 Rocket Packs will bring a whole new world to the Warhawk community. So what’s in Operation: Fallen Star? Let’s find out!

A Screen Depicting Tau Crater!

There is an entirely new level – Tau Crater! It’s a smoky, forested island that features lots of vertical elements to give players tons of cools places to use the jetpack; huge trees that you can fly up into and land on their branches, an enormous recovery crane with lots of trusses and platforms to fly around, and of course, the name sake, a truly gargantuan capital ship wreckage smashed into the ground forming, you guessed it, Tau Crater.

The best part about the ship is that it’s completely traversable. What you say! Yes! This huge ship will allow you to land any vehicle on it and snipe or bring an airstrike on some unsuspecting sniper.

There also salvage platforms that act as bases and there’s some kind of huge fiery hole in the middle that you can climb over as a troop. I believe there’s some kind of Trophy for sniping someone off of that passage or something.

There are also some chunks of the ship scattered in Tau Crater and there are recovery sites that also act as bases.

The Huge Tau Crater Map!

Some huge map right? It’s pretty verticlal – imagine Omega Dawn traverseable via Icarus, but a bit down-scaled. Not only that, but there are 10 new layouts for Tau Crater with Fallen Star and 30 for other already-existing maps. And yes, there are places you can go with the Icarus you previously could not go to. Of course, for all of us old-school people, we’ll still use the Warhawk trick, which is not a glitch.

Tau Crater: Mission Critical! Tau Crater: West Coast!

Tau Crater: Tug of War! Tau Crater: Eastern Shore!

Tau Crater: Direct Assault! Tau Crater: Crater Clash!

Tau Crater: Heavy Lifting! Tau Crater: On the Deck!

Tau Crater: Holed Up! Tau Crater: Under Fire!

Guess what, the Icarus Mk. 1 Rocket Pack is fully compatible with all game modes, Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Collection and Hero!

Well with each new Booster Pack, the Incognito team feel it should change the game, well Jetpacks’ll do that to a game which did not have them!

The Icarus Mk. 1 Rocket Pack!

First off, the jetpacks are equipment that the salvage crews are using to work on the wreckage so the style of it is very much like the equipment you might see at a construction site. This is true for the Daedalus Rapid Assembly Device (D-RAD) as well. Think of it as a vending machine for jetpacks. One of our players on the Warhawk forums asked if it was like a “hot-dog-stand”…well, yes it kinda is. 🙂

What the Daedalus does is plain and simple. It stays in one location, it cannot be hurt – other wise if it could do any of those two it would make a game unbalanced – and when you walk up to it and press Square, it begins to create an Icarus for you. Then you have it with you!

The Daedalus Rapid Assembly Device!

Again, you cannot move the Daedalus and you cannot damage it. But frett not, they are placed evenly around the map!

A D-RAD in Use!

Now here’s probably the most exciting part of the game: you can have the Icarus equipped while in a 4×4, Tank, Warhawk or Nemesis and eject out of them! So your team can “jump-jet” out of a pair of 4×4’s and surprise the other team’s Flag bearer! And while a Pilot or Passenger in a Warhawk/Nemesis, you can eject if you must to not die!

A Troop Using the Flamethrower on an Icarus!

Now how do you operate said Icarus? Simple really, you just press R2 to go and L2 to hover. You can double-tap R2 to “boost-dodge” missiles. Only Troop Rocket Launchers can lock onto Troops on an Icarus – while in the air. So if you’re on the ground they can’t lock on to you, and Warhawk’s and Nemesis can’t lock on to you, the Icarus doesn’t emanate enough heat.

Someone on an Icarus with the Flag!

Oh guess what? You can fly with the Flag and with Cores in Collection! Don’t worry though, the speed has been fine-tuned to be well enough for all situations! Incognito knows what they’re doing.

A Tau Crater Base!

Again, V1.5 comes out Wednesday, August 27th and Operation: Fallen Star will be available for $7.99 on August 28th!

Oh, and one last thing, Kudos to 3 people (topodisc, mattnz, cubehouse) who were able to breakdown my ,crazy color-swatch-HEX-string-mythology-reference!
