Halo 3 Recon Will Be A Standalone DVD Release

Microsoft has confirmed that the Bungie developed expansion, Halo 3: Recon, will be a standalone DVD release that will not require the original Halo 3 to play.

Set prior to the events of Halo 3, players will control a ODST drop soldier which the publisher claims will “greatly resemble that of previous Halo experiences” but “will require players to employ more elements of stealth and cunning than ever before.”

Halo 3: Recon is currently set for a Fall 2009 release.
