Call of Duty Name Stays With Modern Warfare 2

Infinity Ward has confirmed that its upcoming game Modern Warfare 2 will indeed retain the Call of Duty branding.

Robert Bowling, Infinity Ward’s community manager, wrote a Twatter containing images of the new box art.

Previously, the developer refered to the sequel only as Modern Warfare 2 however it was indicated that the game’s commercial success could be hindered if it wasn’t labeled as a Call of Duty title. Activision has high expections for the franchise, clearly, with the delayed release of Raven Software’s Singularity just yesterday explaining that the move was to “clear the way for Modern Warfare 2 to dominate this holiday season.”

Expect Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 to release on PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 on its scheduled release date of November 10.
