Silent Hill 8 Now Silent Hill: Downpour

Game Informer’s latest issue has spilled new details on the next installment in the Silent Hill franchise, now titled Silent Hill: Downpour. The game is currently in developement at Vatra Games, located in the former Eastern Bloc of Czech Republic. It was originally announced at E3 2010 during Konami’s Press Conference, video here.

While little is known of the game so far, the announcement trailer sheds light on some of the haunted horror going on in the little, hillside town. Downpour features a subway system for players to travel between points as well as various side quests. The new combat system gives the ability to run away from fights whenever possible, however, boss fights are unavoidable and features quick time gameplay events. In addition, weapons will weaken overtime as there is no inventory system. Rain plays a huge role in Downpour, much like ice and snow in Silent Hill: Shattered Memories.
