Gears Of War 3 Beta Details, Begins Mid April

Epic Games and Microsoft have released some more details about the upcoming conclusion to the Gears trilogy, Gears of War 3. The upcoming beta for Gears 3 will start in mid-April and features “three new Versus Multiplayer modes on four maps.” Microsoft is allowing fans to vote for what maps they would like to play in the public beta on the game’s Facebook page.

Beta codes are currently available by purchasing EA/People Can Fly’s latest game, Bulletstorm Epic Edition, for the Xbox 360. Set 18 months after the events of Gears of War 2, players will once again take control of Marcus Fenix, as he continues to fight in the war against the Locust, as well as a new enemy known as the Lambent.

Players can choose to play the main story campaign either solo, or with up to three other players, and will have a choice between male and female COG characters.

Horde mode makes a return, and will feature more gameplay upgrades, and new challenges. A new mode known as “Beast Mode” is introduced in Gears of War 3. It features five player co-op, and lets players assume the role of the Locust army. Players face off against waves of humans, including Marcus Fenix and the rest of Delta Squad. Players can also jump into multiplayer so they can brutalize other players online.

You can check out Gears of War 3 for yourself September 20, 2011.
