Square-Enix Europe Hinting At Carmageddon Reveal [UPDATE]

UPDATE: Square Enix has responded to VG247 stating they are not handling the Carmageddon reboot. The company sold off the rights to the franchise a while back and the original developer Stainless Games is currently busy working on other titles like Magic the Gathering and Risk.

A countdown has appeared on carmageddon.com, inferring that a new Carmageddon announcement is probably on the way. The countdown, at the time of writing, has 9 days, 13 hours to go before it ends on June 1st. The domain is registered under Square Enix Europe, who currently holds the Carmageddon IP after the buyout of its original publishers SCi.

The last Carmageddon game released back in 2000. A new Carmageddon was in the works at one point but was cancelled back in 2005 with 2K Games as the publisher. The new Carmageddon would mark the fourth installment in the vehicular slaughter franchise.
