While Rayman Legends might have been delayed for Wii U, Ubisoft has made good on their promise to bring something for the fans. The Challenge app is now available for all Wii U users from the eShop.
The challenge app has the three stages available in the original Wii U demo from a couple of months ago with the addition of the asynchronous multiplayer challenge mode. This lets players race against time, or compete against distances.
There are daily and weekly challenges available to everyone, and then their are extreme challenges which are only available to players at a specified “Awesomeness” level. This is the experience level players build up by winning trophies in any level or mode. The higher the trophy the more points added the quicker players can raise their Awesomeness.
The Challenge App released with some of the exclusive Wii U levels where players use the touch screen controlling Murfy to assist the computer controlled platforming.
When I first played the Murfy levels from the first demo, I was unimpressed and disappointed with the direction that Rayman Legends seemed to have taken. Now getting to play these levels at a higher difficulty adds a lot more enjoyment. Still I think the traditional, ‘tough as nails’ platforming challenges will be where I find the most enjoyment.
The Rayman Legends Challenge App will be available for players up until the Aug 3 release date. It is unclear if any progress or unlocks achieved during the app period will carry over to the main game.
