The latest in high-definition video game capture equipment from Hauppauge does not require a PC and has a built in audio mixer for convenient on the go recording of your gaming, with commentary.
The HD PVR line of products from Hauppauge (and similar devices from other manufactures) usually need a computer to handle the saving of the files, and an even more complicated process for mixing commentary audio in with the game. The introduction of the HD PVR Rocket removes the need to setup and connect to a computer. The device captures your 1080p HD source via HDMI (assuming the source is free of any copy protection) or analog component inputs and encodes it into an easy to share video file stored on a USB drive.
Hauppauge estimates that a 16GB drive will store up to 4 hours of 1080p gameplay.
In addition to the local video recording the Rocket also has a line-in microphone jack with a simple audio mixer with controls.
This means that if you are travelling light, or don’t know what will be available at your destination you can always be sure that you will be able to capture your gaming moments to share with the world. The Rocket also come bundled with Hauppauge Capture which imports your files directly to YouTube.
The HD PVR Rocket will be available on Nov. 15 at Best Buy (price listed at $169.99) and other major retailers across the US and Europe.
