Activision is bringing back the Sierra brand rebranding itself as a indie shop with the announcement of a new King’s Quest video game coming 2015 and a new Geometry Wars game planned for release this holiday 2014.
King’s Quest is currently in development at The Odd Gentlemen (The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom) in an all new story featuring the retelling of King Graham’s adventures to his granddaughter Gwendolyn. Players can expect an “awe-inspiring art style, engaging puzzles, and wonderous interactive narrative brimming with humor.”
Sierra hopes to partner with indie studios working on original projects or are interested in working on Sierra properties. Bob Loya, Sr. Director of External Development said, “In addition to Lucid Games and The Odd Gentlemen, we’re in talks with a large number of other indie devs, and can’t wait to share more details with fans in the near future.”
The first game to launch under the Sierra label is Geometry Wars3: Dimensions from Lucid Games, a collective of ex-Bizarre Creations developers, and offering cooperative and competitive multiplayer for the first time. In addition to a complete single-player campaign and ten battle modes, Geometry Wars3: Dimensions promises players a “consistently new experience each time they play.”
