The 16th annual Game Developers Choice Awards have announced that Markus “Notch” Persson and Tracy Fullerton will be receiving the esteemed Ambassador Award and Pioneer Award. These awards are highly prestigious, with the Pioneer Award being awarded to those who breakthrough tech and game design milestones, and the Ambassador Award being awarded to those who have helped video games advance to a better place through advocacy or action.
Notch, who will be receiving the Pioneer Award, is best known as the creator of Minecraft, the enormous indie sandbox game, while Fullerton, who will be receiving the Ambassador Award, is the associate professor and director of the University of Southern California Games program, who played a crucial role in the creation of games such as Cloud, fl0w, and The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom.
The Game Developers Choice Awards will take place during the 30th Game Developers Conference in San Francisco on Wednesday, March 16th at the Moscone Convention Center. For more information, check out the event’s official website here.
