Yooka-Laylee Finally Receives Release Date

At long last, the highly anticipated retro-3D Platformer, Yooka-Laylee, has received a release date from Playtonic Games, alongside pre-order details. Launching for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on April 11th, Yooka-Laylee is the spiritual successor to classic titles like Banjo KazooieDonkey Kong 64, and Conker‘s Bad Fur Day. Players who pre-order the game will receive the ability to instantly unlock the “Yooka-Laylee Toybox“, a demo of sorts that will let players experience the full game’s mechanics and gameplay.

Unfortunately, the Wii U version of the game has been officially cancelled. Gavin Price, Studio Director at Playtonic Games confirmed:

“We’re sad to announce that despite our best efforts and exploring every possible avenue, we have encountered unforseen technical issues that unfortunately mean it will be impossible for us to release Yooka-Laylee on Wii U as initially planned.”

Yooka-Laylee will run for $39.99 USD. For more information on the game, check out the trailer above.
