+Mpact Games has announced that their multiplayer samurai game, Hanako: Honor & Blade, will be available on PC this summer. The game, which is set to be self-published by +Mpact Games through Steam, pits up to 24 players in two clans against one another in Feudal Japan. The backstory and art of the game are a “symbolic tribute to the late mother of team lead, Matt Canei, an industry veteran currently at ILMxLAB,” who has worked on the game for over a decade.
Players take on the role of a samurai from either the Hanako, which represents health and goodness, or the Yamai clan, which represents an opposition to life itself. There are four different warrior classes: the swordsman, the spearman, the archer, or the ninja. There are ritual sites to provide buffs and debuffs, destructible environments, and multiple game modes and maps.
