Momodora: Moonlit Farewell, the final chapter in Bombservice’s long-running Metroidvania series, is set to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch on February 6, 2025. Following its critically acclaimed PC release in 2024, the game’s console debut will include a brand-new after-credits boss battle and Boss Rush mode, giving fans even more reason to return to its stunning pixel-art world.
A New Priestess, A New Journey
Set five years after Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight, this final entry follows Priestess Momo as she investigates a mysterious bell whose ominous chimes summon a demonic invasion. With the sacred Lun Tree and her village under threat, Momo must battle through corrupted dungeons, lush springs, and ancient cities to unravel the mystery behind the Bellringers and their connection to the Moon God Selin.
Metroidvania Combat with Customization
Momo’s journey is fraught with danger, facing possessed creatures, sinister spirits, and powerful bosses. Players can customize combat with the Sigil system, allowing Momo to enhance her abilities with upgrades like:
- The Hunter – Boosts arrow damage when stamina is full.
- Other unique Sigils that adjust attack power, movement speed, and more.
Players can enjoy Light Mode for a story-driven experience with multiple difficulty settings or Normal Mode for a true test of skill with harder-hitting enemies and tighter invincibility frames.
New Console Features: Boss Rush and Bonus Boss Fight
In addition to its hand-crafted pixel art and deep Metroidvania exploration, the console version of Momodora: Moonlit Farewell brings:
- Boss Rush Mode – A non-stop gauntlet of Moonlit Farewell’s toughest foes.
- Post-Credits Boss Fight – A brand-new challenge for players who complete the game.
A Farewell to Momodora
“Moonlit Farewell marks the end of the Momodora series, but it has been a pleasure to expand the game for consoles,” said rdein, founder of Bombservice. “We’re incredibly grateful to all the fans who have supported us since the beginning.”
