Creepy Redneck Dinosaur Mansion 3 Brings Survival Horror, Match-3, and Chaos to Steam Next Fest

Strange Scaffold, the minds behind El Paso, Elsewhere and CLICKOLDING, are back with another delightfully unhinged creation. Revealed during IGN Fan Fest, Creepy Redneck Dinosaur Mansion 3 (CRDM3) is a match-3 survival horror comedy RPG Metroidvania. The demo is available now via Steam Next Fest, ahead of the game’s full April 2025 release on PC.

A Sequel to a Game That Never Existed – And a Mansion That Knows It’s in a Video Game

CRDM3 goes all-in on its absurd premise, presenting itself as the long-awaited sequel to a fictional, decades-old horror franchise. You play as J.J. Hardwell, a protagonist stuck in a glitch-ridden mansion overrun with dinosaurs and video game bugs, forced to solve puzzles, match gems, and battle raptors with mechanics that seem more self-aware than they should be.

The game skewers industry trends, delivers razor-sharp satire on game development, and features a polka-infused horror soundtrack by David Mason (Dredge, Life Eater).

Key Features:

  • A “Matchtroidvania” – A genre mashup blending match-3 mechanics, survival horror, and Metroidvania exploration
  • Puzzle-based mechanics – Use match-3 to pick locks, debate robots, and even eat diamonds to outsmart a gem thief
  • A self-aware, fourth-wall-breaking narrative that satirizes the industry while delivering genuine horror and comedy
  • An eerie polka soundtrack from award-winning composer David Mason (Dredge, Life Eater)
