Retroware and Zenovia Interactive have teamed up to bring Neon Inferno, a fast-paced cyberpunk side-scroller, to all platforms in Q3 2025. Using Contra and Wild Guns cues, Neon Inferno adds a fresh twist with foreground/background combat, stylish bullet-time mechanics, and a gritty, pixel-art dystopia set in a crime-ridden New York City of 2055.
Developed by Zenovia Interactive—the studio behind Steel Assault—this 2D shooter puts players in the boots of Angelo and Mariana, two enforcers for a rising crime family locked in a deadly battle against corrupt cops, rival syndicates, and high-tech mercenaries.
Classic Run-and-Gun Action with a Cyberpunk Twist
Neon Inferno throws players into intense, multi-layered combat, where enemies attack from both the foreground and background. Using “Bullet Time,” players can deflect incoming shots, strategically return fire, and weave between enemies in a dazzling display of skill.
With multiple difficulty settings, a one-credit arcade mode, and 2-player co-op, Neon Inferno is built for both casual players and hardcore challenge seekers.
Key Features of Neon Inferno
- Shoot Close, Aim Far – A hybrid side-scrolling and gallery-shooter experience, where attacks come from every angle.
- 32-Bit Pixel Perfection – A dystopian sci-fi New York brought to life in detailed pixel art, paired with a high-energy soundtrack.
- Two-Player Co-op – Bring a friend and tackle the chaos together, because the streets are too dangerous to face alone.
