If you’ve ever wanted to manage a World War II airfield, now’s your chance. Blindflug Studios has just released a brand-new demo for their upcoming base-building strategy game, Ground of Aces. Set during World War II, the game puts players in charge of constructing and commanding an RAF military airfield, maintaining legendary warplanes, and making tough strategic decisions that could alter the course of battle.
A Fresh Take on WWII Strategy
Unlike traditional WWII games that focus on frontline combat, Ground of Aces shifts the spotlight to the unsung heroes behind the war effort—the crews running air bases, keeping planes in the sky, and deciding which missions are worth the risk.
Inspired by RimWorld and Going Medieval, the game allows players to freely design their air base, ensuring each outpost is unique. It also incorporates historical events, including the Battle of Britain, to provide an authentic yet engaging strategy experience.
What to Expect from the Demo
According to Blindflug Studios co-founder Moritz Zumbühl, the Ground of Aces demo offers a first glimpse into the game’s deep strategy mechanics and airbase management systems:
“Starting with a small British airfield, players will get to experience the thrill of building and commanding a wartime air base, taking care of iconic WWII aircraft, and making tough strategic choices regarding missions from HQ. We can’t wait to hear player feedback and expand the game together with our community.”
Key Features:
- Build & Defend – Design your own airbase and prepare for enemy raids.
- Aircraft Management – Maintain a fleet of historical WWII planes and assign them to high-risk missions.
- Strategic Decision-Making – Manage resources, choose which battles to engage in, and adapt to dynamic war conditions.
- Personal Crew Stories – Every pilot and mechanic has their own backstory, and their fates are in your hands.
- Franco-Belgian Comic Aesthetic – A ligne claire art style reminiscent of Biggles and Buck Danny comics.
