Hip-Hop Biopunk Action Game Sonokuni Hits Nintendo Switch Soon

If you thought Sonokuni was coming only to PC, think again. Publisher Kakehashi Games and developer Don Yasa Crew have confirmed that the high-speed, hip-hop-fueled biopunk action game will also be launching on Nintendo Switch. While an exact release date for the Switch version hasn’t been announced, it will arrive shortly after the previously confirmed PC (Steam) release.

A playable demo of the game will be available this weekend at the Tokyo Indie Games Summit for those eager to try it out.

What Is Sonokuni?

Winner of VGC’s Game of the Show and Excellence in Sound Design at BitSummit 2024, Sonokuni is a fast-paced action game where players control Takeru, a lone assassin raiding a biotechnological superpower in a fight for survival. The game blends cyberpunk and Japanese mythology, tackling themes of morality, violence, and resistance—all set to an explosive soundtrack by the game’s developers, Japanese hip-hop collective Don Yasa Crew.

With blazing combat, striking visuals, and a raw, energetic soundtrack, Sonokuni is shaping up to be one of the most unique indie action games of the year.

When & Where to Play

Release Date: PC (Steam) version confirmed; Switch version coming soon.
Platforms: PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch (Newly Announced!)
