Trails Beyond the Horizon is sending its long-running series to the only place it can escape from capitalism, space! Claiming to be the final chapter in the Trails of series, Kai no Kiseki is not just being released in the west, but this year. Which is a lot because we’re also getting Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, also coming out in Fall 2025. Potentially a Ys vs. Trails in the Sky: Alternative Saga in 2025. We also just got Trails through Daybreak II just last month. It’s a banner year for Falcom. Let’s dig into it.
Oh yeah, when I started playing games in this series 10+ years ago, I definitely saw where this was going. I can only imagine how intimidating this whole series must seem to those interested but haven’t taken their first foray into the series. I’m only guessing because, as someone who’s played a few entries in the series, I still find it extremely intimidating to continue. That said, Falcom is still pushing full steam ahead on this dense and enigmatic series. Let’s see what NISA has to say about Trails Beyond the Horizon:
Van Arkride and the members of Arkride Solutions are back, and this time the future of the entire Zemurian continent is at stake! The people of Zemuria await the launch of humanity’s first foray into space with bated breath. A sudden invitation from Marduk to cooperate in a high-tech training exercise sets Van, Ashen Chevalier Rean Schwarzer, and Father Kevin Graham on a collision course with the secrets at the very core of Zemuria. Their paths may diverge, but the ultimate question remains the same: Just what lies beyond the edge of the horizon?
What indeed. Trails Beyond the Horizon is boasting the coming together of a long-running series featuring new gameplay mechanics, allies from all over Calvard and beyond, and a dungeon you can take on with your own custom party. Let’s look at what NISA says we’ll be getting into with Trails Beyond the Horizon.
Trails Beyond the Horizon Key Features
- All Trails Lead Here – Paths from across Zemuria intertwine with higher stakes than ever before as the Trails series enters its final chapter!
- Gameplay, Evolved – New gameplay mechanics such as Shard Commands, Awakening, and the time-freezing Z.O.C. give you an unprecedented amount of options in both Field and Command Battles!
- Dream Teams – Gather allies from all over Calvard and beyond and put a stop to Ouroboros’ machinations in the Grim Garten, a dungeon that you can take on with your own custom party!
What do you think? Will the story actually end here or is this a convergence point leading to even more entries? This series cap has been a long time coming from Nihon Falcom who have only seen their series become more popular as entries are released.
