Team Tapas, the Korean indie studio behind the mobile hits A Girl Adrift and Bistro Heroes, is bringing its fairytale-themed roguelike action RPG Garden of Witches to Steam Early Access on May 23. This marks the studio’s first foray into the PC gaming space.
Set in a magical world teetering on the edge of ruin, Garden of Witches follows Sil, a young witch racing to gather her fellow spellcasters for a tea party powerful enough to stop the extinction of their enchanted garden. Blending real-time combat with vibrant, fairytale visuals, the game offers a unique mix of adorable aesthetics and hardcore action gameplay.
A Deep Build System Behind the Charm
While it may look whimsical on the surface, Garden of Witches hides a deep character progression system. Players mix and match spells, weapons, and Relics to create their own combat style. Each of the five available story chapters in Early Access introduces new mechanics that expand the game’s build potential and replayability:
- Chapter 2: Introduces the Synergy System, allowing players to maximize Attribute effects.
- Chapter 3: Adds powerful Relics that redefine combat strategies.
- Chapter 4: Expands player freedom with the Weapon Select System.
Combat is fast-paced and strategic, with Team Tapas reworking core mechanics based on player feedback, most notably rebalancing the high-risk, high-reward Counter skill for more specific, skillful use.
Built for All Skill Levels
The Early Access version features a completely redesigned difficulty system, aiming to make the game equally enjoyable for both casual players and hardcore roguelike veterans. Team Tapas plans to continue listening to community feedback throughout the Early Access period, with major updates in the works for full release, including new story content, endgame challenges, side quests, and a wider range of spells and weapons.
With Garden of Witches, Team Tapas is casting its first spell on PC—and it might not be long before it enchants other platforms as well.
