Spike Chunsoft has revealed new gameplay details for No Sleep For Kaname Date – From AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES, the next entry in the mind-bending detective adventure series. Launching July 25 on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and Steam, this latest installment brings back the iconic Investigation and Somnium sections—and introduces a brand-new gameplay mode: Escape.
Alongside the game reveal, a fresh batch of AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES – nirvanA Initiative collaboration merch is now available for pre-order at Village Vanguard through May 10.
Three Ways to Dive Into the Truth
Like previous entries, No Sleep For Kaname Date splits its narrative into multiple perspectives, each with its own unique gameplay system. This time, players will juggle three distinct modes:
Investigation – Classic Detective Work
Play as Kaname Date as he hunts for the missing Iris. You’ll explore crime scenes, interrogate witnesses, and use your AI-equipped eyeball “AI-Ball” to uncover vital clues.
Somnium – Dream Logic with a Timer
Take control of Aiba in her humanoid form to enter suspect’s dreams using the Psync system. Solve surreal logic puzzles and break through mental locks—all within a tight six-minute time limit. Each Somnium is weird, unpredictable, and shaped by the mind of the person you’re diving into.
Escape – New Puzzle Rooms
A brand-new addition to the series, the Escape sections put you in control of Iris, trapped in a locked room. Solve puzzles using a first-person perspective, examine suspicious objects, and combine items to create escape tools. Kaname and Aiba provide hints over comms, but it’s up to you to find your way out.
