RAIDOU Remastered Launches Summoner’s Guild, Teases Manga and Demon Fusion Gameplay

ATLUS West announced yesterday that they were launching the Summoner’s Guild, a “special club for Raidou fans itching to get a deeper look” at RAIDOU Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army. Basically, they want you to sign up for their newsletter and want to give you incentives to do so. One of those incentives, is an official translation of the first chapter of the Raidou manga – Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Lone Marebito.

A clip of the manga Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Lone Marebito

Impressively, they’ve officially translated it for English, French, Italian, German, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, and Latin American Spanish. This is the first time the manga has been officially translated out of Japanese since it’s release in May of 2009. The entire 6 volume manga series has been fan translated into English with the first two volumes also being translated into Brazilian Portuguese, but nothing official since release. The run of the manga, set after the events in the sequel of Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army, Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon, ended in 2012 with a full set of six volumes.

As of writing, only the first chapter, not even the full first volume, has been released. However, considering it takes place after the events of the game’s sequel, we’re left to wonder if this is a long-play to slowly release the manga up to a RAIDOU Remastered sequel. I imagine it’ll wholly be based on whether or not RAIDOU Remastered sells well. Regardless, I hope they officially translate the manga in full. Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Lone Marebito (officially Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. Kodoku no Marebito) isn’t the only set of untranslated media expansion for the Devil Summoner series, in fact, it’s not even the only manga for the Devil Summoner series.

A Soul Hackers manga was released as 2 light novels in 1999 under the name Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers – Nightmare of the Butterfly as well as the DeviSummo Festival Comic Anthology in 2006. Both are untranslated and difficult to find. Another manga that released in 2006 was Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. the Messenger of the Dead. This is actually a prequel novel that takes place before Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army. Originally released by Kadokawa Shoten, I imagine the reason SEGA didn’t start with this manga is due to a rights issue because, given the premise, it makes a lot more sense to release Messenger of the Dead to a new audience ahead of the RAIDOU Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army release than it does The Lone Marebito. It’s also entirely possible some changes to the story have been made that would bring fan conflict to this otherwise unknown manga.

As it stands, currently, only the first chapter of the first volume of Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Lone Marebito has been released by SEGA and you can get it by signing up to the Summoner’s Guild here.

RAIDOU Remastered – Demons #1

In this extremely short video we’re shown the Goumaden, the place where you’ll be fusing and registering demons. We’re shown the menu system for using the Goumaden, which is very similar to the one used in Shin Megami Tensei V. The player has Flaemis, Aquaans, Turbo Granny, Muu Shuwuu, and Angel as fusion result options, using the fuse by results option. The player chooses to fuse Jack-o’-Lantern and Jack Frost to summon Turbo Granny. Notably, we see things like Jack-o’-Lantern having a little SMT guy with the fire symbol next to him and Jack Frost with an ice symbol, signifying the element they’re attuned to. The result is Raidou Kuzunoha summoning Turbo Granny, a demon from Shin Megami Tensei V. Likewise, we see Nezha, a demon from Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon, another cool addition. Raidou summons Nezha on the field and that’s that. Disappointingly short but I really like what I’m seeing here.

RAIDOU Remastered – Story

Another extremely short video, this one focusing on The Mysteries of Episode 2: The Red Cape. Narumi assigns Raidou to find information on the Red Cape. We’re shown Raidou talking with several people about the Red Cape along with seeing the Red Special Guard but not much else than that. This would have been a great time to show Raidou using the investigation skills of his demons to find new information but I suppose we’ll have to wait for that.

Both of these videos are exclusive to the Summoner’s Guild. RADIOU Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army is set to launch on June 18th, 2025 on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 1/2.
