DMM GAMES and Tookyo Games have officially revealed the release date for their latest narrative fever dream, Shuten Order. The multi-genre adventure game created by Danganronpa mastermind Kazutaka Kodaka launches worldwide on September 5, 2025, for Nintendo Switch and Steam. In North America and Europe, Shuten Oder will be published digitally by Spike Chunsoft, with pre-orders available now.
According to the devs, Shuten Order blends five different gameplay systems—from stealth horror to mystery-solving, even romance—into one bizarre and compelling narrative set in a world where the apocalypse is ticking down, and God is definitely watching.
A Cult, A Corpse, and Four Days to Solve Your Own Murder
Shuten Order opens with humanity on the edge of extinction. A fanatical cult-turned-nation known as the Shuten Order worships the end times—until their mysterious Founder is assassinated. That founder is you—or was, before a supernatural resurrection brings you back as the memory-wiped “Rei Shimobe,” with just four days to solve your own murder or face permanent death.
Guided by two very sus “angels” (one cute, one shady), you’ll investigate five ministers within the Shuten government. And depending on who you suspect, the story and gameplay genre will shift wildly.
Five Suspects, Five Genres

- Ministry of Justice – Mystery Adventure: Deduce the truth using the “Snapping” mechanic during interrogations.
- Ministry of Science – Multi-Perspective Visual Novel: See the world through multiple characters and timelines.
- Ministry of Health – Extreme Escape Adventure: Survive deadly 3D puzzles in an escape room death game.
- Ministry of Education – Romance Adventure (?): Woo suspicious schoolgirls to unmask the real poisoner.
- Ministry of Security – Stealth Horror: Evade a monstrous killer while unraveling sinister secrets.
Depending on who you chase, you’ll play through different styles, story branches, and even tones—blending drama, dread, and absurdity in classic Kodaka fashion.

Players who pre-order the Nintendo Switch version will receive a prequel digital novel, Before the Murders – case: Manji Fushicho, which explores the origin of the feared “Queen of Heretic Hunting.”
