Consume Me, a self-care life-sim RPG where players will take on the time in their life that sucked the most, a teenager. In the trailer, we see the protagonist as she manages her schedule and deals with the daily drudgery of life, but in a fun and very animated way. Life is chaotic, especially when you’re a teenager. Consume Me takes those mundane aspects of life and creates fun minigames out of them.
In lieu of a single studio name, the developers have decided to just go by their names, which is frustrating for the press, I imagine, but for those of us paid by the word, we say thank you. Developers Jenny Jiao Hsia, AP Thomson, Jie En Lee, Violet W-P, and Ken “coda” Snyder showed off Consume Me at Day of the Devs during Summer Games Fest 2025. This news comes ahead of a demo releasing on their Steam page to show off the game that’s available right now.
Consume Me has an interesting take on life that should resonate with most of us, especially those of us that are a little too cynical for our own good.
Hey remember when your parents, your friends, and society at large all conspired to make you feel ugly, lazy, stupid, and unloved despite the brilliant human spirit contained within you? No? Well, allow us to refresh your memory via the timeless medium of a slice-of-life role-playing game!
Yikes! But, also, yes, I do remember that. I don’t need the reminder, but Consume Me looks pretty fun, so I can’t say I’m not interested. Playing as Jenny, a girl who is both young AND in love, in her final year of high school. Being a teen isn’t fun, it feels like the weight of the world and your entire future is on your shoulders. Jenny especially, as she tries to balance winning over the boy of her dreams, work on your studies, and maintain an incredibly tight schedule to just get through the day.
Consume Me Key Features
- A darkly funny coming-of-age story: You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll get a little hungry, sometimes all at the same time! Sorry about that!
- Every meal a puzzle: Eat your lunch, but be careful not too eat too much. Also, try not to eat too little either. Throw any food you don’t want to the dog. It’s fine, she’s not on a diet!
- Gripping strategic decision making: A limited amount of time and an unlimited number of things to do!? This classic combination introduces the ultimate strategic question: How should you be spending your time? It’s up to you to answer this question…every day of your life!
- Obtain powerful equipment: Choose from a selection of garments that help you dress for success. But be warned, the armor of this world degrades after a mere single day of use…until you renew it via that ancient ritual known only as “laundry”.
- Over 13 possible endings: Most of them bad!
Consume Me will release on September 25th on PC via Steam. A demo is currently available, and if you’re interested in the game, I recommend adding it to your wishlist. Stay tuned to MonsterVine for ongoing coverage of Day of the Devs, developers who use their names in lieu of a studio name, and Consume Me itself.
