Announced during the MIX Summer Game Showcase 2025, Scrubbin’ Trubble is a turn-based roguelike clean-’em-up from new indie studio Odd Object, formed by devs with credits on Catacomb Kids, UFO 50, and Cadence of Hyrule. The game is coming to PC via Steam later this year and features both solo and up-to-four-player online/local co-op. It’s all about scrubbing grime-infested baddies, upgrading quirky cleaning classes, and battling bosses like “Refusphynx” and “Asbeastos” in the depths of a mysterious, ever-dirty dungeon called The House.
Tidy Tactics and Dirty Dungeons
The devs describe it as a mix between tactical RPG combat and the fast, messy energy of a hack-and-slash brawler, but with turn-based strategy layered in. You’ll pick from six RPG-style cleaning classes, each designed with its own mechanics and personality:
- Bubbaladin – A spongey frontline tank that soaks up damage
- Bleacher – A long-range precision shooter for cleaning from afar
- Washbuckler – A swashbuckling crowd-control cleaner
As you descend into randomized floors of The House, you’ll scrub away slime and earn upgrades based on performance. The better you clean, the stronger your party becomes. But if your whole crew wipes? It’s game over, and you start back at the top.
The Four Filths of the Apocalypse
Scrubbin’ Trubble isn’t just about mopping up generic goo. You’ll face pun-filled monstrosities like Mildude, Asbeastos, and Refusphynx, all of which act as major boss encounters. Each run ends in a showdown with one of the Four Filths of the Apocalypse, requiring coordination, smart class builds, and quick thinking
Sudsy Sessions With Friends
Designed with pick-up-and-play in mind, Scrubbin’ Trubble lets you jump into a solo run or team up with friends via local or online co-op. Its approachable learning curve makes it accessible even to those new to roguelikes, while its layered combat and synergy-focused class design give it plenty of strategic depth.
You’ll also find an arsenal of strange and satisfying cleaning tools like the Wiper Rifle and Splash Bang, ensuring that even the dirtiest situations have solutions.
A Fresh Take from Seasoned Devs
Odd Object may be a new studio, but its founders are far from rookies. Co-founded by Catacomb Kids creator Stevie Hryciw and Cadence of Hyrule animator Tyriq Plummer, the team blends a love of goofy humor with smart, tactile game design. Scrubbin’ Trubble looks like a promising debut, especially for fans of genre mashups and co-op chaos.
Scrubbin’ Trubble is coming to Steam later in 2025. You can wishlist it now and follow the developers for updates on upcoming betas and more.
