Total Chaos Delayed to Q4 2025, Demo Available Now on Steam

The descent into Total Chaos is going to take a little longer — but it’ll be all the more unsettling when it arrives. Today, Apogee Entertainment and developer Trigger Happy Interactive announced that their upcoming psychological survival horror game, Total Chaos, is now slated to launch in Q4 2025 for PC via Steam.

Originally developed as a total conversion mod for DOOM II, Total Chaos has since evolved into a fully standalone horror experience — a haunting, nine-chapter journey through the abandoned island of Fort Oasis, where nightmares manifest from the walls and the environment warps around your growing madness.

A new playable demo is now available on Steam, giving horror fans a chance to get a taste of the dread. And with Gamescom right around the corner, Total Chaos will be hands-on for press eager to brave its oppressive world.

A Horror Legacy Reborn

Head developer Sam Prebble of Trigger Happy Interactive shared why the delay was necessary:

Total Chaos isn’t just a game, it’s a descent. A personal one. Every shadow, every sound, every silence has meaning. This delay gives me the time to ensure that the journey into Fort Oasis is as haunting and unforgettable as it needs to be.”

Blending the best of classic and modern horror design, Total Chaos draws influence from games like Silent Hill, Amnesia, and Resident Evil, combining slow-burning psychological tension with punishing survival mechanics and disturbing creature design.

Features to Fear:

  • Nine-episode campaign steeped in dread and decaying ruins
  • Dynamic level progression based on player sanity levels
  • Melee combat and survival gunplay with scavenged weapons
  • Environmental storytelling that reveals the island’s — and your character’s — darkest secrets
  • Grotesque enemy encounters with reactive, unpredictable AI
  • Deep resource management, including a crafting system where every item may be your last line of defense

Whether you’re fighting to survive or just trying to keep your grip on reality, Total Chaos is shaping up to be a definitive entry in the modern psychological horror genre.
