New Italian studio Sedleo, in collaboration with publisher Dear Villagers, has announced 1348 Ex Voto, a narrative-driven action adventure set in the turbulent world of 14th-century Italy. The game follows Aeta (voiced by Alby Baldwin), a young knight-errant, who embarks on a perilous journey after a bandit raid devastates her village. Driven by the need to rescue her closest companion, Bianca (Jennifer English), Aeta’s path to knighthood unfolds against the backdrop of a plague-ravaged land filled with danger, zealotry, and mercenaries.
Slated for early 2026, 1348 Ex Voto will release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Honour, Justice, and Sacrifice
Game Director Tom Oceano describes 1348 Ex Voto as a deeply personal story about “honour, justice, and sacrifice in times where those words’ meaning was all but lost.” The project, years in the making, is Sedleo’s debut title, created by a team of seasoned indie developers with a passion for authentic medieval storytelling.
Historical Combat and Exploration
At its core, 1348 Ex Voto blends combat and exploration. Sedleo has worked closely with historical experts to design a fighting system inspired by Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA), offering players a grounded, skill-based approach to swordplay. Alongside its combat depth, the game strives to faithfully recreate the atmosphere of rural Italy during one of Europe’s most unstable eras, marrying authenticity with an immersive narrative.
A World on the Brink
The plague-stricken setting heightens the stakes of Aeta’s quest, as collapsing societal structures give way to chaos. Encounters with zealots, bandits, and mercenaries will test both Aeta’s strength and her ideals as she navigates a world in desperate need of hope.
