Final Fantasy XIV Online x Monster Hunter Wilds Collaboration Announced at Gamescom 2025

At Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025, Square Enix and Capcom surprised fans by revealing a brand-new crossover between Final Fantasy XIV Online and the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds. The collaboration will arrive this autumn, bringing unique crossover events and encounters to both titles.

Guardian Arkveld Joins Final Fantasy XIV

In early October 2025, Final Fantasy XIV Online players will face off against the formidable Guardian Arkveld, a new crossover encounter pulling directly from Monster Hunter Wilds. This marks the next step in FFXIV’s tradition of blockbuster collaborations, bringing iconic monsters and characters from other franchises into Eorzea.

Monster Hunter Wilds Gets Its Turn in September

Before FFXIV players meet Arkveld, Monster Hunter Wilds will see its crossover event in late September 2025, with details promised in the coming weeks. While Capcom hasn’t revealed the full lineup yet, fans can expect exclusive quests, themed gear, and special challenges inspired by FFXIV.

Continuing a Legacy of Collaborations

This announcement builds on the success of the 2018 Final Fantasy XIV x Monster Hunter: World collaboration, where Rathalos became a fan-favorite crossover hunt in Eorzea. With Monster Hunter Wilds pushing Capcom’s series into expansive, living ecosystems, and FFXIV still going strong past 30 million registered accounts, the timing couldn’t be better for a fresh event spanning two of the biggest RPG franchises in gaming.

Final Fantasy XIV Free Trial Reminder

Square Enix also reminded fans that now is the perfect time to jump into FFXIV. The expanded Free Trial includes A Realm Reborn, Heavensward, and Stormblood, with no time limits and hundreds of hours of content, essentially the equivalent of three full Final Fantasy games.
