Life Below Gameplay Trailer Surfaces Ahead of gamescom 2025 Demo

Developer Megapop has released a brand-new gameplay trailer for its upcoming underwater city builder Life Below, just in time for its debut at gamescom 2025. Alongside the reveal, a playable demo is now available both on the show floor and on Steam for players worldwide.

Building Hope Beneath the Waves

Life Below tasks players with restoring life to dying coral reefs and protecting fragile ecosystems in a near-future ocean impacted by climate change. Players take on the role of Thalassa, Guardian of the Reef, who must harness the Heart of the Reef’s energy to regrow coral, attract wildlife, and rebuild thriving underwater ecosystems.

Core gameplay systems include:

  • Reef Management – Place and cultivate energy-producing Moon Coral.
  • Wildlife Attraction – Craft and deploy lures to bring biodiversity back to the deep.
  • Adaptive Survival – Evolve ecosystems to withstand ever-changing challenges in the shifting tides.

A Story Rooted in Ecology

The game is written by award-winning writer Rhianna Pratchett (Tomb Raider, Heavenly Sword), bringing a narrative-driven touch to the city-building experience. Through Thalassa’s perspective, players will hear the voice of nature and confront the collapse of coral systems while striving to reignite life in the ocean.
