If you’ve been craving a new turn-based RPG with the heart of an SNES classic, Quartet from Something Classic Games—the studio behind Shadows of Adam—is arriving soon. Launching on PC, Mac, and Linux via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG on August 26, 2025, for $19.99, the game blends nostalgic pixel art and retro gameplay with modern quality-of-life improvements.
Four Tales, One Epic Journey
The game opens with four distinct adventures, each introducing a different protagonist and storyline:
- A string of train robberies hints at a deep government conspiracy.
- A mysterious deck of cards grants a young girl visions of another world.
- A deadly fleet of airships carves a fiery path across the Imperial frontier.
- The world’s most unlikely hero manifests a staggering magical power.
These separate threads eventually converge into a single epic struggle to end a war over magic, leading to an 11-chapter main story spanning 20+ hours (plus an additional five hours of sidequests).
Tactical Combat with an Eight-Person Party
Quartet uses a front line/back line battle system—with four active party members fighting while four recover spell points in reserve. Players can swap characters strategically, mixing over 50 combat skills and hundreds of pieces of gear to handle dozens of bosses across 24 dungeons.
The game also features optional late-game story quests for every character, allowing players to explore more personal arcs after the main events.
