Publisher Owlcat Games and developer Emotion Spark Studio have revealed that Rue Valley will officially launch on November 11, 2025. Set to release on PC via Steam, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch, the game is described as a deeply emotional isometric narrative RPG about one man’s struggle to break free from a time loop by confronting the battles within his mind.
A Story of Loops and Identity
Drawing inspiration from titles like Disco Elysium, Rue Valley puts players in the shoes of a man trapped inside a looping cycle of days, forced to confront his own identity as much as the strange anomaly surrounding the Rue Valley Motel. Each reset not only changes what the protagonist can do, but also who he becomes, with player choices shaping personality traits that affect every interaction.
Memories play a central role as players can store important revelations in a memory graph, carrying them across loops to unlock new dialogue, behaviors, and approaches. With every iteration, the mystery behind the time loop comes closer to being solved, while the character’s inner struggles and those of the ensemble cast around him gradually come to light.
Key Features
Rue Valley blends narrative depth with experimental mechanics that let players redefine themselves with each reset. Among the standout features are:
- Craft Your Personality: Be a detached loner, a dramatic showman, or anything in between. Each loop offers a chance to experiment with choices and outcomes.
- Memory Graph System: Store memories that carry over between loops to unlock unique interactions and expand character mindsets.
- Uncover the Mystery: Explore the Rue Valley Motel and its surroundings, gathering evidence and reshaping events to break the cycle.
- Stylized Art Direction: Featuring a 2D parallax, comic-book inspired art style, with visual cues drawn from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Disco Elysium.
