Starsand Island Reveals Deep Construction Tools and Blueprint Sharing for 2026 Launch

Developer Seed Lab has lifted the curtain on the deep and richly featured construction system of Starsand Island, its upcoming life simulation game set to launch in early 2026 on PC and consoles. Revealed during Gamescom, the feature set demonstrates how players will be able to design, decorate, and share their dream homes with an impressive range of customization tools.

From grand Tudor estates to cozy cottagecore bungalows, the construction system is designed to empower creativity at every level. The announcement also revealed that Starsand Island will include a Blueprints Library, allowing players to save, share, and download architectural designs from friends, the community, or NPCs in-game.

Three Building Perspectives

At launch, Starsand Island will include three construction modes, each offering different perspectives and functionality:

  • Free-view building gives players a robust set of tools to shape their dream homes with walls, doors, roofs, and landscaping.
  • Character perspective allows for intimate decorating and furnishing of interiors and exteriors.
  • Local view zooms in on smaller spaces, like aquariums or intricate tabletop decorations.

The flexibility of these modes means players can approach building from big-picture planning down to fine interior details.

Tools of the Trade

Starsand Island’s construction system is built around an impressive array of creative features:

  • Building textures: Apply wood, brick, stone, gloss paint, metallic finishes, rough cement, ceramics, and more to shape architectural style.
  • Day/Night cycle in construction mode: Adjust the time of day to see how buildings look in sunlight, golden hour, or moonlight.
  • Blueprints: Share and download full home designs from other players or acquire pre-made designs from NPCs.
  • Batch editing: Quickly rework or demolish large sections of your build for efficiency and experimentation.

Seed Lab’s Creative Director Richardo Wang described the system as central to the game’s appeal:

“Creating a perfect, pastoral paradise takes more than growing vegetables and making friends with fellow islanders. It’s about being able to create your dream house, where every detail is just as you imagined.”

Meanwhile, Technical Director Goltan Gao emphasized the importance of the bespoke game engine built specifically to support creativity and blueprint sharing, noting that even the dev team has been experimenting with a wide range of homes and styles internally.
