Paris-based indie developer Typin has announced a brand-new demo update for Cupiclaw, the cute and chaotic claw-machine roguelike where players help Morris, a down-on-his-luck protagonist, claw his way to the top of the arcade in search of a replacement engagement ring.
The updated demo arrives just in time for Cupiclaw’s appearance in the BIG (Best Indie Games) Fall Showcase 2025 and ahead of its hands-on debut at Tokyo Game Show 2025 later this month.
What’s New in Cupiclaw’s Demo
Listening closely to fan feedback, Typin has implemented a wide range of updates — from major gameplay systems to subtle quality-of-life improvements. Among the highlights are:
- A new upgrade system that lets players improve between arcade floors.
- Fresh prizes and an all-new machine to master.
- A key system for unlocking progression across floors.
- A new difficulty mode for players seeking a real challenge.
- Unlockable prizes that reward persistence and skill.
- Full translations in Japanese, Chinese, and Korean, broadening accessibility.
On top of these, smaller tweaks include an auto-save system, a confirmation screen between rounds, rebalanced timers and costs, improved UI, visible Morris hands (toggleable), enhanced VFX, and a new Stats menu.
It’s a meaningful set of changes that make the climb from the basement arcade to the top floor even more frantic, strategic, and fun.
Cupiclaw on the Showcase Circuit
Alongside the demo update, Cupiclaw is stepping into the spotlight. Players got a new trailer during the BIG Fall Showcase 2025, showcasing the quirky charm and high-energy chaos of Typin’s roguelike.
Later this month, the game will be showcased at Tokyo Game Show 2025, where attendees can play the updated demo on the show floor. Typin will also be offering exclusive Cupiclaw merchandise to fans who stop by the booth.
