Indie developer Enraged Gamers has announced Dungeons Deep, a dark fantasy action RPG now live on Kickstarter. Inspired by Diablo II but reimagined in full 3D, the game blends methodical, over-the-shoulder combat with procedural dungeon design, addictive loot, and eerie AI behavior that keeps players on edge. A playable demo is available now on Steam, letting players try the game before its crowdfunding campaign ends on October 10, 2025.
Diablo Meets 3D Dungeon Crawling
Unlike many action RPGs that lean on Soulslike mechanics such as lock-on combat, Dungeons Deep opts for precise hitboxes and skill-based aiming. Every swing, dodge, and spell cast demands attention, offering a slower but more visceral pace than typical hack-and-slash games. Enraged Gamers cites Diablo II’s grim tone and Severance: Blade of Darkness’s combat as core inspirations.
One surprising feature emerged from a development glitch: enemy AI circling the player unpredictably. Instead of removing it, the developer refined this quirk into a stalking behavior that adds tension and unpredictability to combat encounters.
Features That Set It Apart
Dungeons Deep promises a mix of classic ARPG systems and fresh twists, including:
- Procedural dungeons with randomized layouts that make every run unique
- Methodical combat with dismemberment mechanics for brutal finishing blows
- Customization options for both abilities and appearance
- Deadly challenges, from colossal dragons to trap-filled corridors
- Kickstarter stretch goals, including console ports, co-op for up to four players, and expanded content
Support the Kickstarter
The Dungeons Deep Kickstarter campaign is seeking $15,000 to complete development, with pledge rewards starting at $25. Backers can gain access to alpha builds, campaign-exclusive skins, or even help design weapons, armor, and dungeons. Higher stretch goals promise an expanded campaign, console releases, and a cooperative multiplayer mode.
