ProbablyMonsters has unveiled that Ire: A Prologue, its upcoming first-person psychological horror game, will have a free demo during Steam Next Fest this October. The full game launches on October 28, 2025, for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
A Story Told in Loops
In Ire: A Prologue, players step into the memories of Emily, a young teenager trapped on an abandoned ship in the Bermuda Triangle. Each “loop” through her memories uncovers new pieces of the truth while a monstrous pursuer relentlessly stalks the player. The demo will highlight the first three loops, giving a taste of the tense, ever-changing rules that define the game’s horror.
Horror, Lore, and Survival
Built in Unreal Engine 5, Ire: A Prologue blends stealth mechanics, environmental storytelling, and puzzle-solving into an immersive horror experience. Players must experiment with paranormal mechanics, evade danger, and survive 13 loops in total to uncover Emily’s fate. Choices made along the way can shape the ending, rewarding players who dare to return for alternate paths.
The project is helmed by world-builders Matt Case (former HBO Interactive) and CJ Cowan (former Destiny story team lead), who aim to kick off a larger horror franchise under the Ire banner.
Demo and Release Details
The demo will go live on October 13 as part of Steam Next Fest. Ire: A Prologue launches globally on October 28, 2025, for $19.99.
