Capcom Reveals New Story and Gameplay for Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection

Capcom has shared a deeper dive into Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, offering fans new insights into the story and gameplay. Director Kenji Oguro revealed that the game centers around an environmental crisis called the Crystal Encroachment, a phenomenon driving tensions between the kingdoms of Azuria and Vermeil.

As Rangers investigating this crisis, players will uncover the secrets of the mysterious Egg Quartz, which manifests alongside the encroaching crystals. The journey won’t just be about survival. Riders will encounter rare and endangered monsters, protect ecosystems under threat, and navigate the growing rift between the rival kingdoms.

Expansive Exploration with Riding Actions

Exploration in Twisted Reflection builds on the foundation of previous entries, letting players climb cliffs, glide across landscapes, and take flight on the backs of their Monsties. These Riding Actions extend seamlessly into combat, giving Riders the chance to trigger unique skills and gain an upper hand at the start of battles.

New Monsters and Familiar Faces

The reveal also highlighted returning monsters and fresh additions, including the frog-like Chatacabra and the imposing Rey Dau, who join the series’ roster. As part of the game’s ecological focus, players will need to protect and preserve vulnerable monsters whose habitats are being consumed by the Crystal Encroachment.

Strategic Combat Upgrades

Combat evolves with the introduction of the Synchro Rush, a powerful party-wide move that Riders can unleash after building momentum in battle. This new mechanic emphasizes coordination and timing, offering players more strategic depth than ever before. The expanded combat system also encourages creative use of Riding Actions both in and out of encounters, blurring the line between exploration and combat strategy.

Taking Flight in March 2026

With its new mechanics, expanded monster roster, and environmental storytelling, Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection promises to deliver a deeper and more dynamic RPG experience. The game launches on March 13, 2026,for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
