Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja have officially announced that Nioh 3 will launch worldwide on February 6, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam. Alongside the release date, the publisher unveiled a new story trailer directed by Shinji Higuchi and shared behind-the-scenes videos highlighting the game’s expanded scope.
A Dark Tale of Brotherhood and Betrayal
Set during Japan’s turbulent Sengoku period, players step into the role of Tokugawa Takechiyo, heir to the shogunate. His brother, Tokugawa Kunimatsu, consumed by resentment, forges a sinister alliance with yokai to seize power and drag the land into chaos. With the aid of his guardian spirit, Kusanagi, Takechiyo must transcend time itself to restore balance and rise as shogun.
Expansive Eras and Open Exploration
For the first time in series history, Nioh 3 spans multiple eras and iconic regions of Japan. Players will explore Edo Castle, the Tōtōmi region, and the newly revealed Heian-era Kyoto, all designed with open-field exploration that offers diverse landscapes and secrets to uncover. Alongside yokai battles, players will face the challenge of the Crucible, testing their mastery of combat systems.
Legendary Figures Join the Fight
Takechiyo will cross paths with historical legends such as Takeda Shingen, Minamoto no Yoshitsune, and Minamoto no Yoritomo. Fan favorites Hattori Hanzo, Honda Tadakatsu, and Saito Fuku also return. Tao Tsuchiya further bolsters the cast as Himiko, queen of Yamatai-koku, and Kanata Hongo as Kunimatsu Tokugawa.
