Videocult and Akupara Games are bringing Rain World: The Watcher to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox on September 25th, 2025. Originally released on PC earlier this year, the expansion has been eagerly awaited by console players ready to dive into its warped, shadowy world. Players step into the role of a new slugcat, navigating murky waters and bending reality itself to survive as the Watcher decides their fate.
Watcher 1.5 Expands the World
Alongside the console launch, Watcher 1.5 will introduce a massive content update. This includes new regions to explore, fresh creatures, items, and mechanics, as well as additional characters, branching paths, and multiple endings. Fans can also look forward to new pieces of art and music to deepen the atmospheric experience.
Rain World Gets Major Updates Too
The expansion doesn’t just stop with new content. Rain World as a whole is also being updated with:
- 50+ new Arena maps
- Full Arena Mode support for the Watcher
- Jolly Co-op support retroactively applied to all five Downpour campaigns
- A wide range of gameplay tweaks, patches, and quality-of-life improvements
These updates ensure that whether you’re exploring solo or with friends, the Rain World experience is more expansive and polished than ever.
A World of Prey and Predator
For the uninitiated, Rain World casts players as a nomadic slugcat, struggling to survive in an unforgiving ecosystem where they are both predator and prey. Each expedition is a fight to gather enough food while avoiding larger, deadlier creatures that see slugcats as the perfect meal. The Watcher DLC takes this survival challenge into stranger, darker territories with new threats, discoveries, and mysteries waiting in the shadows.
Rain World: The Watcher is available now on PC and will launch for consoles on September 25th, 2025.
