The Edge of Allegoria Launches on Nintendo Switch With Retro RPG Chaos

Button Factory Games and CobraTekku Games have announced that The Edge of Allegoria is now available on Nintendo Switch. Originally released for PC in December 2025 to strong reviews, the game is also verified for Steam Deck, making it fully portable across both platforms.

Available via the Nintendo eShop for $24.99, the RPG combines nostalgic Game Boy aesthetics with a massive world, sharp humor, and plenty of chaotic battles.

A Midlife Crisis Becomes an Epic Quest

In The Edge of Allegoria, players follow a protagonist who, after a devastating midlife crisis, sets out across the land of Allegoria. Along the way, he’ll uncover secrets of the realm, conquer dungeons, and battle hordes of monsters, all while mastering a unique progression system that blends modern design with old-school flair.

Packed With Monsters, Weapons, and Dungeons

The Edge of Allegoria promises dozens of hours of content, featuring:

  • 145 monster types and 41 boss battles spread across 31 dungeons
  • 96 unique weapons, each with their own abilities and permanent skill retention
  • A massive overworld with six divine beings awaiting in their own domains

With crude humor woven throughout, the game balances its grim quest with plenty of irreverence.

A Nostalgic Pixel Adventure

Inspired by the aesthetics of the classic Game Boy, The Edge of Allegoria’s monochrome visuals evoke retro handheld RPGs while modern mechanics keep combat and exploration fresh. Developer Joe Picknell set out to channel the look of his childhood favorites while offering something new to the genre.
