Argonaut Games has announced the Croc: Legend of the Gobbos Platinum Edition, an expanded and upgraded version of the beloved platformer’s remaster. Launching today on Steam and on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms on October 16, the Platinum Edition introduces a wave of new content, features, and long-awaited PlayStation Platinum Trophies alongside achievements for every other major platform.
A Platinum-Worthy Comeback
When Croc: Legend of the Gobbos Remastered originally launched, PlayStation fans were quick to notice one thing missing: a Platinum Trophy. Because PlayStation doesn’t allow developers to add Platinum trophies through patches retroactively, Argonaut Games decided to go big and release a completely new version of the game instead.
The Platinum Edition adds 16 new trophies, including the highly coveted Platinum Trophy, as well as matching achievements for Xbox and PC players. For the first time, Nintendo Switch users can also join the hunt with in-game achievements and a built-in tracking screen.
What’s New in the Platinum Edition
In addition to achievements and trophies, Croc: Legend of the Gobbos Platinum Edition features a suite of fresh content and quality-of-life improvements that modernize the classic adventure:
- Time Attack Mode – Race through levels and set new personal bests in a brand-new gameplay mode.
- Expanded Crocipedia – Over 25 new entries add more lore, trivia, and behind-the-scenes details for fans to explore.
- Customizable Music Options – Toggle between multiple mixes of Croc’s iconic main theme from the main menu.
- Bug Fixes and Performance Improvements – Dozens of issues have been squashed to ensure a smoother experience.
- Quality-of-Life Upgrades – Streamlined menus, refined controls, and other community-requested tweaks.
Release Details and Rollout
The Platinum Edition update will roll out as follows:
- Steam (PC): Available now as a new standalone purchase.
- PlayStation 4 & 5: Released as a separate new edition with full trophy support.
- Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and GOG: The Platinum Edition update will arrive as a free standard update for all players.
This upgrade highlights Argonaut’s continued dedication to the Croc community, combining fan feedback with new features to deliver the definitive version of the nostalgic 3D platformer.
